August 23, 2007summer daze
I can't believe how quickly the days are getting shorter once again.
It seems like just yesterday I was anxiously waiting for them to get
longer and it was taking far too long. Now they're getting shorter again
and it's going far too quickly.
Incidentally, I have to admit I really liked the 3 extra weeks of daylight savings time. When I first heard about it I thought it was going to be yet another government fiasco, but it turned out to be a great idea. It was a little darker in the morning, but dawn pretty much coincided with my wake-up time, so it was no biggy. And we immediately had an extra hour of daylight in the evening. It worked out great. I'm not so sure about extending it past Halloween, however. We'll have to see how that goes.
I went to the cabin last weekend, to drop off Clint and pick up Meryl. The kids have been staying with their grandparents this summer at the cabin for two weeks at a time. Just 1 kid at a time, though, as there is far too much bickering when the two of them get together. I can't believe that in just over 1 week they'll be starting grade 7. Grade 7! It won't be long now before they're in high school. Soon they'll be driving cars and next thing you konw they'll be moving out. Actually, I guess this marks the half way point. Six grades down and six to go. But where did those six years go? It's such a cliche, but it needs to be said: I can't believe how quickly time is flying these days. I feel like the days are ticking by like seconds on a clock. Tick, tick, tick. There's just no stopping them. I do realize that it's mostly because I'm so busy all the time. I'm hoping that next summer I can slow things down a little bit. We'll see.
